In-Touch Tutoring provides individual instruction to students who are experiencing challenges within their school work or who are looking to enrich their academic experience.
Academics
Instruction is provided in all areas:
- Math & Science: elementary & upper level
- English: Grammar, Writing Skills, and Literature Reviews
- Reading: Phonics, Fluency, and Comprehension
- Foreign language: Latin, Spanish, and French
- Other courses: Inquire if we have tutor that is qualified to teach a course you need.
We can help with homework, help study for tests, and fill in fundamental gaps that are making learning difficult. In consultation with parents, teachers, if desired, and examination of past work, our tutors will develop a plan of action to help your student make progress in his academic work.
Homework Help/Coaching
We will help your child get their homework done and understand the concepts that it contains. We will contact teachers so that we can be using the same skills and techniques that are used in class, but will attempt to teach them to your child in way that meets their mode of learning.
Remediation and Enrichment
An initial introductory consultation helps us to determine the areas of need and will assist in matching your child with a tutor who can best meet their needs. Each student has individualized lesson plans that are made in collaboration with your goals and the school curriculum. The tutor will provide the parent with on-going communication regarding the student's progress.
Standardized Test Preparation
TAKS/STAR: We provide help before the test or mandatory tutoring after scores are returned. Math, reading, writing, social studies, or science.
SAT & ACT: These present unique academic challenges to students. Our 1:1 tutoring sessions will help your student be more relaxed and feel more prepared to meet these challenges as well as give them the skills necessary to score to their potential.
Study Skills: Good study habits help students get better grades. Discover your child's mode of learning and use this to help with:
- Organization of materials and time
- Note taking
- Reading comprehension
- Test taking
- Memorization techniques
Alphabet – Phonics Reading Program
We have a certified Academic Language Therapist on staff for consultation and instruction. This sequential multi-sensory phonetic program has been proven effective in helping children with dyslexia and other reading disabilities.
Each In-Touch Tutoring session is tailored to fit the needs of the student and are usually about 1 hour in length. These can take place at a time and location that is most convenient for you.
